About

What we do

When the agency now called eobiont got started in 2000, our first big break came in the way of a public awareness campaign to increase fire safety and promote the use of smoke detectors in Germany. The tremendous success of this campaign set the stage for other German and international safety and public awareness initiatives. We have since become well-known in this market sector as a specialist in the promotion of safety themes and products. A look at our references will show some of the diverse projects we have been involved with.

Probably the biggest challenge and reward in working in this field has been bringing vitality, emotion and even humor to what at first glance might seem like dry and serious subject matter. This also underscores our competence in strategically focussed creativity while demonstrating a diverse skill set. For example our Ampelini child safety project involves scriptwriting, game development and animation. Our “New Year’s Love Bombs” campaign for teenagers and young adults centers on viral videos and social networking. For our “Not With Me” campaign on home security we developed a complete traveling museum exhibition “Castles, Secret Passages And Magic”.

As a small hot shot our core competence is in creative idea development. Specialised skills that we don’t possess in house are met through our freelancer pool or outsourced. Although we have had some duds in the last ten years, most of our projects are long term and validate our success in achieving goals, exciting our target market and exceeding the expectations of our customers.

What we want to do

eobiont loves the work it does, yet also recognises the danger of becoming pidgeonholed. To fight against this potential fate, we are actively looking to expand into some new markets. Through leveraging of our ethnic diversity and digital dexterity, we look forward to digging our claws into more international projects with a strong digital media component. At the moment we are particularly focussed on finding opportunities where we can implement our abilities in education, gaming/interactive, social media and viral videos.

What the eobiont?

So you are wondering what’s with the weird name. First of all how to pronounce it: supposedly it is pronounced (ee-oh-BEE-ont), but we don‘t like that, so we say (ee-OH-bee-ont). Yes it is a real word, but you probably won‘t find it in a dictionary, since it is very rare. It means the theoretical chemical precursor to life – the rare and raw force behind creation.

How it happened? We used to have another name that started with “eo” and when we changed our corporate structure the secretary of our notary notified us in the last second that we needed to change our name for copyright reasons. It was a fast decision. To be honest, we sometimes have misgivings about the name. No one can spell it or remember it to start out with. And it has a tinge of bioscience to it. But all the domains were free and there is no other communication agency in the world with that name. That is gold in itself in this age. And it stands out among all the “potatoes and peas” and “silverfishes” and “mother’s other brothers” out there. So for better or worse: eobiont – that’s us.

Really though

There must be 50 000 digital media, social networking, search engine optimisation, viral video experts flittering away on Twitter. We’re not going to talk about that right here. On this website you can see our work and judge for yourself if we know what we are doing or not. But there is one thing that we think is fundamental to the new age of marketing and communication that we are all plunging headlong into: HONESTY. In the good old days when Mad Men ruled the Earth, a sexy ad campaign could sell anything, including squeezable toilet paper. Today the truth is a google away. Campaigns that aren’t honest are going to die on the vine. We think that is a good thing, but in particular we are going to make one big promise to you. Honesty was the guiding principle of the whole development of this website and it will be the foundation of our relationship with you if you decide to do business with us. Really though.
