Poster to the People
A new design was needed for a poster to mark this year’s “Friday the 13th,” designated Smoke Alarm Awareness Day. Who better to consult than the people personally invested in the issue: firefighters themselves, who will be using the posters in their awareness campaigns. Publicity was generated for our poster-designing competition through trade publications, the campaign’s own website, mailings and social media sites. The grand prize: a shiny new iPad.The Facebook group we created quickly attracted more than 500 participants and generated lively discussion. In total, nearly 50 poster entries were submitted. The winner will be officially announced on June 7, 2010 at Interschutz, a trade fair held every five years catering to the firefighting industry and the largest exhibition of its kind.
